Designed by Thomas Jefferson, 10 pavilions for the professor's residences and small rooms for the students in between.

Impressive even if you're not a UVA alum. Mr Jefferson himself helped to plan the Lawn.  Happened to visit over the holidays when I was the only person present and snapped these great pics.

Do you know "The Lawn?" I didn't until being nearly forced to get out of my car and walk down the center of "The Lawn"  I was pleasently surprised. It's filled with history, yet youthful in feeling. The walk about the place is an excellent idea for any visitors in the area - do it!

One of the true architectural treasures in America. It is a living, thriving, academic village just as Jefferson envisioned!

A place filled with only positivity and good vibes! The lawn just doesn't have students who come there to read or learn, it has people who bring their dogs to play, people eat their lunch there, some gatherings and picnics also happens there. It is definitely more than just a part of the academical village.

Very enjoyable and peaceful at night. Enjoy the lights durring the holiday season.

This is so beautiful. What makes it better is if you get a tour from an alum! Then you get to learn all the cool history.

This large, grassy space designed by Thomas Jefferson is ringed by historic university buildings.
